1) Election
More candidates have announced their participation in the election taking place in March, 2002. We must elect two representatives who wish to contribute a daily effort for ISBA. Candidates are non-Americans - hereby meaning all professional members, who have paid their dues and who reside outside the USA.
2) Article on financial astrology
Good media coverage of both financial astrology and business astrology continues, most recently with an article by Bill Meridian. If you haven't read it yet, you may find it at the following web address: www.forbes.com/2002/01/25/0125inlwatch.html
3) Members Corner
This first month of the new year brought us three new members from India, Denmark and the USA. Buddahadev Bose is an associate member from India, Kim Elsass is a supporting member from Denmark, and Drora Ovadia is an associate member from the USA! I'm interested in the number of Vedic astrologers we have as members. Buddahadev is another Vedic astrologer. Maybe one of you will submit something to the newsletter for the rest of us? Anyhow, please welcome our three newest members to the ISBA family!
This Mercury retrograde has comical aspects to it, and I can't remember a cycle quite like this one before. That is, since I began studying in 1967. I've been laughing more than usual, and some of the boners I've pulled have given others a good chuckle I'm sure! Mercury stationed Rx at 14 Aquarius. There must be a humorous asteroid or something at that degree. Doing membership under the Mercury Rx is always an adventure, in that I double & even triple check data & still make mistakes. This time, thankfully, they have all been silly, and no harm done! You'll be reading this after Mercury straightens up it's act this Friday.
On February 12th we enter the Chinese year of the water horse. Since the Chinese elements flow in a 60 year cycle, the last water horse year was in 1942. I wonder if this year will be similar to that one? I integrate the Chinese animals & elements into my practice, and have found these cycles merit attention. Especially in financial astrology. The water years seem to be years when people are more nervous & fidgety than normal, and the "vibes" in the air seem to be picked up by everyone. Any comments on this out there?
In Oneness,
barbara may
4) Speakers - London.
The subjects presented at the congress in November 2002 are now final and will be available on the web site during February/March. The invitation to the congress will be sent personally to each ISBA member.
5) Newsletters from ISBA members
We are planning new pages on the www.businessastrologers.com site. These pages will list newsletters offered by ISBA members, as we frequently receive requests for this type of information. Any ISBA member who publishes newsletters and would like ISBA to advertise it on the business astrologers' web site must please send the following information:
Name
E-mail address
Price
Brief description of newsletter contents and target group.
Please forward the material to: info@businessastrologers.com
6) Web site
We have a number of comments in the discussion forum - from among others new ISBA members. Drop by to see the latest discussion! Also you'll find material posted by Harald Seeberger, Switzerland, about Enron. This material is probably interesting to a lot of you - it certainly was to me (Karen). Thanks, Harald. Furthermore, Michael Munkasey has written the History of the Wall Street Stock Exchange in chronological form - you will find this in the ISBA Journal.
7) Training
ISBA has received a request from a person looking for a financial astrologer who can help decipher George Bayer and his astrological methods regarding trade and commodities. If you can help, please notify: info@businessastrologers.com
8) Skeptics (database) James Randi
The above "skeptic" is probably known to most astrologers. We can quickly agree that he really doesn't deserve our attention. Nevertheless, I want to let you all know that James Randi and his Danish colleague Mogens Winther, astronomer, are keeping a sharp eye on us. In week 3 I was wondering why our web site had so may visitors originating from Ranbdi's web site: www.randi.org It turned out that Randi had a long article in his weekly newsletter concerning ISBA and our work in the fileds of business astrology and financial astrology - courtesy of the Danish skeptic Mogens Winther. The quality and style of the newsletter needs no further description. Our media director Mary Downing has performed a large feat in informing the board, particularly the European members, about James Randi - his character and typical tactics. We have decided to ignore this person. He does not merit out attention. However, there are also serious-minded skeptics - a few of them reside in Denmark. Some years ago, I felt forced to reply to one of them in the Danish press, when he had written an article about testing astrologers in California. A test I knew nothing about (there is seldom time enough to enquire via other astrologers, as you need to act fast in these cases). It is apparent from the postings from astrologers worldwide, caused by Randis article, as well as from information from out media director, that the test was constructed differently from what was presented in the above-mentioned article. This would have been very nice for me to know. Therefore - please send me all information you have regarding Randi and skeptics in general, e.g.:
What is going on in your home country?
Who has participated in tests?
How were the tests conducted?
What were the results?
How were the results analyzed?
Etc.
We are interested in all types of material, and we intend to archive it in ISBA for future reference. Please send the material to: info@businessastrologers.com
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes,
Karen & Hannah
