1) Tutoring
We have had positive feedback from the following 4 members, who will assist other members, with
for instance answering questions. The four are:
Barbara May - UK
Michael Munkasey - USA
Paula Falcao - Brazil
Karen Boesen - Denmark
Of course we'd like to have more experienced members assist others which is why this subject will
be open in July as well. In the August newsletter we will explain how ISBA Tutoring will work.
2) Suggestion for book reviews by from Andrew Homer
Hi fellow ISBA members,
I´m proposing: How about offering book reviews for the ISBA website? While I´m good
at astrology, my wife, Marcella, is good at tarot card readings.
We´ve developed a system which I come up with comparative questions such as "After
the fact, will we be more satisfied using a Panasonic 19" stereo TV rather than Sony?"
And she gives a numerical score for an answer from -100 to +100. After going through a list of
similar questions we get whatever (online host, car, anniversary suite, etc) got the highest positive
score.
Each professional member could give a numerical book report score from -100 to +100 for each recommended
book in two categories: "Taking Care Of Business" and "Investment Portfolio Shuffle."
I´ll start out by suggesting these books for review:
1 - The Stock Market, The Dollar and Interest Rate Developments 1985 to 1990: Bases on a study
of cosmic and astrological cycles by Dr Hans Gerhard Lenz (Gertraud Lenz Verlag 1985).
2 - Business Astrology 101: Weaving the Web between Business and Myth by Georgia Stathis (Star
Cycles Publishing 2001).
3 - Financial Astrology edited by Joan McEvers (Llewellyn 1989).
4 - Basic Principles of Geocosmic Studies for Financial Market Timing by Raymond Merriman (Seek-It
Publications 1995).
5 - Time & Money: The Astrology of Wealth by Barbara Koval (Llewellyn 1993).
6 - Money: How to Find It With Astrology by Lois Rodden (Data New Press 1994).
7 - Astrology and Stock Market Forecasting, 2nd edition by Louise McWhirter (ASI 1977).
8 - How to Use Vocational Astrology for Success in the Workplace edited by Noel Tyl (Llewellyn
1992).
9 - Planets in Work: A Complete Guide to Vocational Astrology by Jamie
Binder (ACS 1988).
Suggested non-astrology text: The Cash Nexus: Money and Power in the Modern World 1700-2000 by
Niall Ferguson (Basic Books 2001).
Most of these books can be obtained through Amazon & Barnes banners on my AstrologersHQ.com/books.html
web page.
Sincerely,
Andrew Homer
3) Members Corner
We welcomed two new associate members to ISBA in June: Lori Infuhr - USA and Eva Schnedler - Denmark!
Our membership rolls have grown quite a lot since September 1999 when I volunteered to help Karen
set it up! Of course I didn't expect to still be doing this nearly three years later, but I really
enjoy chatting with all of you via email!
We're encouraged by response to the tutoring scheme, and hope more of you will want to participate.
This will be very informal and free of charge, so think about how each of you might be willing
to join in. We have lots of talent out there, and as many who want to learn more. I volunteered
because every time I tutor someone I learn as much if not more from the questions I'm asked. It's
a win/win!
Hope you all have a wonderful summer and have good reports on UAC to share with us when you return!
Maarit & I are your international delegates to the AA conference that will be held at Swansea
University in Wales on the 6th, 7th & 8th of September. Our reports will be in the October
newsletter. Between just these two conferences we have a wonderful conference season ahead of
us and there are more! Check out Tees Rietsma (AstroMac@snel.net) for newsletters as well as upcoming
conferences in your area. Don't forget the ISBA conference in London late November/early December!
See you there!
In Oneness,
Barbara May
4) New book from Paul Nipperess, Australia.
I have just released my second ebook on CD-ROM, called "Cardinal Astrographs ... easy trading
tools ..!!"
At US $270.00, this ebook is 196 pages and about 15MB andis aimed at market analysts, astrotrading
students and traders using advanced technical analysis.
Full of charts, tables and figures, this book provides budding astrotraders with many SIMPLE and
PRACTICAL astrotrading methods that can easily be incorporated into ANY trading plan.
Go to: http://easy-trading-tools.tk
Both these books are astrotrading-related books that seek to close the gap between astrologers
and traders and both books are already in .pdf format.
My first ebook is primarily an overview for ALL traders, who wish to develop their own trading
plan, BEFORE investing in ANY market .... 55 pages and 1.9MB of PRACTICAL help for any trader.
This book is called:"Trading Plan ... wozzat?" and has been widely
distributed throughout the world, since June 2000 ... at US $30.00, it is seen by most readers
as good-value-for-money.
Go to: http://easy-trading-tools.00cd.com
"Trading Plan ... wozzat?" will be updated in 2003 to include some simple astro analysis
and other details relevant to developing a TRADABLE and PROFITABLE trading plan ...
Add to this, my next ebook that should be released by November 2002 ..."Ghosts of Gann, it´s
Lucky Starr !!"... this ebook unravels the coded astrological messages that W.D.Gann wrote
into his 1927 book "Tunnel thru the Air". These messages held the key to the trading
methods of this widely acknowledged astrotrader and market forecaster.

5) Article in the Members Area. Kaye Shinker
Kaye Shinker has sent us an article on Jupiter, which can be read in the
Members Area on the ISBA web site. Kaye invites for peer reviews of the article. Thanks, Kaye!
6) Article from Zaragoza. Maarit Laurento
Regards from Spain
In the university of Zaragoza, Spain, it has been possible to study
astrology on academic level since 2000 when Dr. Jesús Navarro-Artigas
started astrology courses together with his colleagues. During the semester 2001-02 with Dr. Alfredo
Ballestin Serrano they have had totally 113 students (both women and men) to everybody´s
surprise.
In the department of philosophy they teach astrology in three astrology
courses: history, methodology and symbolics (totally 9 credits). The
students are from various departments. I met students from economics and philosophy who wanted
to expand their knowledge.
Dr. Navarro-Artigas had started his astrology studies the same time when he started his studies
in engineering in the university during the 60´s. He has been interested in combining astrology
to academic thinking and open up channels for discussion. In 1998 his thoughts begun to get interest
also from the university which opened up the possibility to start courses in astrology autumn
2000. The huge interest surprised both Navarro-Artigas and his colleagues along with the university
staff itself.
The astrology studies in the university of Zaragoza are part of a bigger
picture now going on in the world. The boarders between astrology and
academics have been crossed. In Kepler College (USA) has a four year
academic program for MA (and BA) in astrology. Also in Europe, already in 1993 Patrice Guinard
defended his doctoral dissertation in Sorbonne (Paris I, the department of philosophy) on astrology
and semiotics (http://cura.free.fr). Last year 2001, getting a lot of attention, Elisabeth Teissier
who is also known as the astrologer of Mitterrand defended her doctoral dissertation in the same
university (Paris V, department of sociology). In England there is a possibility to study astrology
in the university starting autumn 2002.
Aren't we living interesting times?
Maarit Laurento
7) Weekly newsletter back again. Tim Bost
Tim Bost is once again sharing his weekly Newsletter on Stocks with us. Read it in the Members
Area.
Thank you, Tim!
8) Article: The Boston Globe
Psychological tests are losing their value? In Boston Globe there has been an article that a group
of psychologers found in the internet right answers for e.g. Rorschach's test and other ones,
too. Tests' validity is getting looser. Interesting news, isn't it? I would like to suggest this
news also to the ISBA newsletter. The psychologers said in the interview that if there will be
more leaks the tests loose their validity. Of course. But guess which kind of tests are harder
to falisfy? I would suggest astrological tests.
9) Astrology in Finland.
Organizations
There are three main associations in Finland:
1. Astrological Association in Finland (founded 1964, chair Outi Korhonen,
URL http://gamma.nic.fi/~astrolog/index.htm, over 600 members),
a. For everybody interested in astrology
b. Organizes education
c. Member meetings once a month with lectures and informal discussions afterwards
d. Astro Logos Magazine (now sold also in public markets, editor Marita Hölttä)
e. Has its own (vivid) internet discussion group with over hundred members all over Finland
2. Astrological Association of Tampere (founded 1982, chair Marja-Liisa Niemi-Mattila, URL http://www.nic.fi/~astrolog/tas/tas.html,
over hundred members)
a. For everybody interested in astrology
b. Organized education
c. Member meetings once a month with lectures and informal discussions
afterwards and
3. Professional Astrologers in Finland (founded 2000, chair Maarit Laurento, URL http://www.astrologit.net,
20 members)
a. For professionals only
b. Organizes information and PR towards media
c. Member meetings every other month or whenever is needed
Official Number of Astrologers
Professional Astrologers in Finland was founded because while astrologer is not a licensed occupation
there are several "wild" astrologers without much education. At the time being there
are twenty members of whom almost ten does astrology professionally (meaning making their living,
paying taxes etc).
Astrological Conferences
There are two big astrological conferences in Finland, both in the summer time. Early summer Astrological
Association in Finland organizes two-day seminar in Lahti which gathers both professional astrologers
and people interested in the subject (totally about hundred). During the years there has also
been several international guests giving speeches. Astrological Association of Tampere organizes
a summer seminar (2 to 5 days) with fifty people.
We also have two big fairs (exhibitions) during the year where many
astrologers attend. Minä Olen -messut (February) and Hengen ja Tiedon Messut (October).
Legal Status of Astrology
Before 2001 there were no legal restrictions towards astrology. Year 2001 the Parliament decided
that astrological tests are not propriate in
recruition. Professional Astrologers in Finland discussed with the members of the Parliament but
could not change the law. Although it is only denied when used as the only measurement in recruiting
processes. And furthermore, people who have used astrology in recruiting have not been professional
astrologers but people interested in astrology. Now, they will not stop using astrology but will
not tell the applicant they do, which Professional Astrologers in Finland think is not the best
result (ethics, openness).
Media
Finnish media understands astrology mostly as Sun Signs. However there is an interest especially
in businessastrology and new branches of astrology. There are a couple of astrologers frequently
in the media.
Skepsis r.y., the Finnish association of skeptics, was founded in 1987, and it has the American
CSICOP (Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal) as a model for
its activity. Skepsis r.y. has similar aims and principles as CSICOP although Skepsis works independently,
but in cooperation with, CSICOP and other, similar organizations. Skepsis is also a member of
ECSO (European Council of Skeptical Organizations) and the Finnish Council of Scientific Organizations.
Skepsis r.y. is very active towards media also concerning astrology.
About media and astrology you can read more Maarit Laurento: A Dialogue Between Astrology And
Science (2001) (http://cura.free.fr/cura-en.html and
http://www.businessastrologers.com).
Cooperation
Cooperation is good between astrologers in Finland. Also Finnish astrologers have quite a few
international contacts.
Mutual Projects Between Astrologers Globally
Information. Now when information is so easily spread through internet, news should be globally
accessible. Infopages in the internet etc where all the news about astrology throughout the world
could be read. ARC:s could be the informants who send infos from their country to you for everybody
to read. News would be under different topics.
10) Astrological joke
Hi you all. I´m up home in Alaska ruminating and putting off moving the
outhouse. The set up: The nodes can be characterized as the head of the dragon and the tail of
the dragon. Either end is dangerous. And as all of you know Saturn is the corporate accountant.
Enron's Inc. chart Saturn conjunct the South node
MCI´s Inc. chart Saturn sextile the South node which is conjunct Neptune
Halibuton Inc. chart Saturn conjunct the South node
Dynergy Inc. chart Saturn conjunct the South node

11) Nick Campion
We have received the following from Nick Campion, and we've chosen to
include it in the newsletter, even though is doesn't precisely deal with
business astrology and financial astrology. Thank you, Nick!

Announcing the first....
MA in CULTURAL ASTRONOMY AND ASTROLOGY
What is Cultural Astronomy? Cultural Astronomy is the study of the
application of beliefs about the stars to all aspects of human culture,
from religion and science to the arts and literature. It includes the
new discipline of archaeoastronomy - the study of astronomical
alignments, orientation and symbolism in architecture, ancient and
modern.
What is the Centre for the study of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology?
The Centre is an academic body within the School of Historical and
Cultural Studies at Bath Spa University College. It is housed in purpose
converted buildings known as The Sophia Centre
What will the MA include? Modules so far designed include an
introduction to the entire subject area, an introduction to research
methodologies, stellar religion, psychological perspectives on modern
astrology, astrology and science, and the history of astrology. Further
modules will be added.
How much study will be required? Each student will have to take the two
introductory modules plus two other taught modules and write a thesis
(which is equivalent to two modules). Each module will require about one
to one-and-a-half days private study per week plus attendance at ten
three hour seminars per term (one per week). Full-time students will
take two modules per term and complete the course in one year. Part-time students will take one
module per term and complete the course in two years. There will also be written assignments to
complete in each term.
What are the entry qualifications? A good BA degree is a sufficient
academic qualification.
For mature students the entry qualifications are primarily based on
life-experience rather than academic qualifications. The College can
then assess your suitability for the course.
What are the fees? Fees will be in the region of £4-500 per module for
UK students, or £2400-3000 for the entire course.
When can I begin? The first course begins in October 2003 but we hope to enroll students at the
beginning of each term.
Who will be teaching the course? The staff of the Centre are Dr.
Michael York (Head of Centre), Dr. Patrick Curry and Nicholas Campion
MA. We will also be bringing in guest lecturers.
How can I find out more? Write to The Sophia Centre, Bath Spa University College, Newton Park,
Newton St. Loe, Bath BA2 9BN, UK. Or contact the College at the address above. Or go on line at
www.bathspa.ac.uk. Or give your name and contact details to Nick Campion at the conference.
The Centre for the Study of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology has been
set up with funding from the Sophia Project http://www.sophia-
project.org.uk/
Best regards, Nick

Hello ISBA Members:
Polaris Business Guides is the first national, metaphysical business-consulting firm in the U.S.
We provide business astrology, business feng shui, business numerology, business coaching and
prosperity training. We are looking for more business astrologers, who can assist us with both
organizational consultations and business electional astrology. Business horary and locational
astrology are a plus. (We're also looking for a business numerologist if anyone knows someone.)
Polaris is launching a national radio publicity campaign with twenty radio interviews on nationally
syndicated radio shows this fall. We anticipate needing more business astrologers than we have
at the moment. We provide all stationery supplies, a professional web site with your bio/services,
any articles you want on it, and products you may want to sell.
We are a virtual, national company with Guides all over the United States. Our advanced phone
system connects all our Guides and clients to each other anywhere in the world. At the moment,
we're primarily looking for other U.S astrologers. We could also consider Canadian astrologers
at this time, since most of those time zones are the same as ours.
The primary requirements for working with Polaris are
1) expertise in business astrology (or one of the other fields)
2) past work in business
3) a desire to work in the abundant and prosperous Universe, instead of the scarce one
4) a desire to collaborate with other professionals
To find out more about our company, please visit our site at www.polarisbusinessguides.com
(We will be offering extensive classes for all types of businesses this fall and our class list
will be available by the end of July.)
If you're interested in meeting at UAC, or in receiving more info, please contact me at mgb@polarisbusinessguides.com
and I will send you an email full of specifics. I will be leaving for UAC on July 12th, so please
contact me before then if you want to meet there.
And please, any referrals for a business numerologist would also be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks and blessings to all,
