1) Quiz - Amanda Williams
Just want to remind all participants in the Amanda Williams astrological quiz to e-mail their answers to both of the following addresses: Amanda
Williams: marzany@hotmail.com, ISBA: info@businessastrologers.com The quiz was introduced in last month's newsletter. All new members of ISBA have received the April edition of the newsletter so that they, too, can participate.
Please submit your answers no later than May 20th.2) Members Corner
This is my first spring in England, and I'm impressed! Since I've spent most of my life in Southern California - where there are not defined seasons - this has been spectacular. Native Southern Californians consider we have two
seasons: beach time and not beach time!
Anyhow, April brought us seven new members, springtime or not! 3 are from a new country and we now have four new professional members, two new supporting members, and one new associate member. Please join us in welcoming Peter Balling - supporting - Denmark; Mauricio Bermis - professional - Brazil; Paula Falcao - professional - Brazil; ( our first Brazil members! ) Mira Kuneva - associate - Bulgaria (our first Bulgarian member!); Susan Mears - supporting - USA; Fred Opmeer - professional - Netherlands; and Amit Vig - professional - India. FYI: Paula and Mauricio are business partners. Welcome to all of you!
We need a volunteer to help us as we move to being able to accept credit cards in payment for dues. We're appealing to a US member who would be willing to receive foreign funds and convert them into dollars and forward them to our treasurer for deposit. We're willing to reimburse for expenses, and expect this stop-gap measure will not be for very long. Any takers? Please contact Karen, Susan or me. Any help will be appreciated!
As we move closer to the Saturn/Pluto opposition, with the accompanying inconjuncts, etc. I hope we all remember even during what appears to be the worst of times, some very good things can and do happen. Attitude is everything!
In Oneness,
barbara may

7) Michael Munkasey: Why am I not Surprised?
Why am I not surprised?
Every day, not just once in a while, examples come forth, some blatant, to show that astrology works. And I get another set of learning experiences.
As promised, I called DE on Monday AM 29 April 2002 to determine the re-incorporation date and time for Hewlett-Packard Corporation (HWP on the NYSE). Their prior incorporation had been in California, in 1947, but in 1998 the company chose to re-incorporate in DE. Their new incorporation information is: 11 Feb 1998 at 4:00 PM, Dover, DE. This re-incorporation gives them a Sun at 22 AQU 56, a Moon at 27 LEO 53, and an MC of 22 ARI 55.
If you have been following the corporate news for HWP over these past few months you would know that they have been locked into a corporate-shaking tumultuous take-over battle. Not with Compaq Computer, the company they wish to merge with, but with members of the HWP Board of Directors, and especially members of the Hewlett and Packard families. The family members feel that this new "direction" for the company is not in the best corporate interests, and have been fighting the merger, even taking out whole page newspaper ads, etc. About March 19th HWP shareholders were asked to vote on this merger. The initial results of this vote show that HWP shareholders narrowly passed the resolution to merge with Compaq Computer.
About April 3rd, the vote was challenged by Mr. W. Hewlett and the case went to the DE courts, where it is being heard. In early April the HWP Board of Directors voted to dismiss Mr. W. Hewlett from the HWP Board.
Here is what the "new" HWP natal incorporation chart shows. From a 45 degree graphic ephemeris for 2002 one can see that Mars and Uranus were on the corporate Moon about April 10th. About the time of the vote there was a Lunation with Mars and Neptune on their natal Uranus. The Full Moon on 26 March hit their natal Sun (all aspects are 45 degree folded), and about 28 March Mercury, Mars and Jupiter conjoined on their natal Sun. Transiting Saturn stationed on their MC on 15 Feb 2002.
How are those hits to show a few things going on in their "new" incorporation chart? These hits are so clear, and classic astrology, showing the type of tension and contention which HWP has been going through. It is not my intention to delineate these hits at this time, but only to provide some information for others who may wish to do so.

8) ISBA delegates at AA congress. England
ISBA will present two delegates at the English Astrologers Association Congress in september.
The delegates are:
Barbara May - Membership Director
Maarit Laurento - Board Member, Chair of ISBA Research commitee.
Both delegates will write an article on the congress which will be mailed to all ISBA members in October.
9) From my own world (Hannah)
Karen asked me to write a bit about my own special piece of news - probably based on an animated discussion we had a couple of days ago.
I am expecting my second child late in October. I feel certain that it will be a girl - and I will know for certain in a month or so. Due to my advanced age (35.) in Denmark you are offered a chromosome test, where you obviously also can learn the sex of the child.
While I rejoiced at the scheduled time of birth, my husband wailed at the thought of having yet another female Scorpio around. Probably it's my Mercury in Scorpio that bugs him. My term is October 28th, although I'm hoping for October 31st, just to liven things up a bit. Either way, the charts look very positive - almost too positive. I'd like a couple of challenging aspects, just to give her stamina and an interesting personality.
I guess Karens suggestion for me writing this stems from our recent talk about possible baby names. I'm rather hooked on "Livia" at the moment, which will be in the running for about until my husband remembers the television series "I, Claudius". Karen definitely felt that Livia, the wife of the emperor Augustus, was a repulsive woman. I thought she was just a woman who managed to get on in the world and manipulate things to her own liking at a time when women were more or less the property of men. And Karen spluttered that ONLY a Scorpio could interpret facts like that. I of course can only reply that history in those days were written by men, and women were seldom treated with due respect or even kindness. Cleopatra, for instance, being another completely misunderstood Scorpio.
I am a double Scorpio, immensely pleased with it and quite proud of it , too. Would be great to nurture another one of this kind.To any of you interested in seeing the mechanics of a family, here are our data. I will happily answer any questions you might have.
Me: October 25, 1966, 56.16N, 10.04E, 8.15 am GMT+1
My husband: January 9, 1969, 56.02N, 12.37E, 12.04 pm (GMT +1) My first child: January 21, 2000, 55.45N, 12.33E, 4.30 pm GMT+1 My second child: October 28??, 2002, 56.02N, 12.37E, time ? (GMT +1)
I am by now almost accustomed to being a Mom - or at least I am this week - and I would like this opportunity to gratefully thank Barbara May and Georgia Stathis for their humour, advice and support, when I was a my wits end. It really has helped me a lot!!All the best,
Karen & Hannah
