ISBA Newsletter February
2004
Dear ISBA member.
Let me first apologize for the tardiness of this newsletter: I was attacked by a particularly
vicious infection and have thus been unable to finish the newsletter until now – in spite
of Karen being ready a while ago. Nevertheless, I hope that this has simply increased your appetite
for the interesting subjects Karen has chosen to include for February!
Best regards,
Hannah

Project.3) USA Election. Andrew Homer
US 2004 Primary & General ElectionMay I get a critique from you on my new web page? www.AstrologersHQ.com/election_2004.html
I used the time when the polls CLOSED in the western most significant city. Other astrologers
use the eastern most city when the polls open. (As Joyce Wehrman would say, a horse race is decided
at the END of the race.)Thank you, Andrew4) Request. Gann & Jensen
Our member Finn Wandahl, would like to ask you the following:
Are there any of ISBA’s astrologers who are acquainted with an American financial astrologer
named L. J. Jensen, who is the author of a book titled "Astro-Cycles & Speculative Markets"?
He is said to have been a pupil of legendary W. D. Gann, and his book is enormously interesting.
Do you feel that his ideas are close to Gann’s – or far from them ?
Finn Wandahl
(Please write to info@businessastrologers.com, who will forward any replies/comments)5) ISBA web.
Financial astrology. Paul Yogi Nipperess. Australia.
As mentioned earlier, Paul contributes – every month - selected astrological financial tips
on our web site. Check out the link on the front page.
Pauls contributions have been highly commended by those who have read them so far. Take a look!
It will be worth your while.6) PAID POSITION FOR ASTROLOGY RESEARCHER
from Mark McDonough
ISAR is spearheading a research effort and is looking for omeone to review all the best research
that's been done in astrology and summarize it for our web site. Initially, we will focus on those
studies that have yielded positive results and then begin a critical assessment of studies that
have yielded negative results. The person sought for this position will read through each study
and summarize in a few sentences:
1. The hypothesis tested
2. The results
3. Any special weakness or strength of the experimental design
We are serious about doing this effort well. We have gathered $2,500 to make sure we can get a
fully professional job done. ISAR is leading the project with a $1,000 grant. In addition, the
following companies have contributed $500 each towards the project: Astrolabe, AstroDatabank/AstrologySoftwareShop.com,
and Merriman Market Analyst. ISAR will provide the Project Researcher with initial instructions
on where to find astrology research results and how to critique them. We are looking for someone
who will be resourceful in tracking down further references. Once the survey is done and posted
on the web site, we will finally have ONE place where anyone can go to find the astrological research
projects that have yielded the best results. Astrologers will use the site to find references
for articles or books they are writing. When the media wants to do a story on astrology, they
will be able to reference this site to get a comprehensive view of the best in astrology research.
If you are interested in applying for this grant, please send your qualifications and a sample
of your expository writing to
Mark McDonough at
Mark@AstroDatabank.com. Applications will be reviewed by the ISAR research committee; preference
will be given to those who have broad astrological knowledge, a background in research methods,
excellent writing skills, and a passion for the subject. Please forward this message to astrology
newsletter writers, webmasters, and anyone you know who's qualified, so we can find the very best
person for the job.
Sincerely,
Mark McDonough
ISAR Board member
P.S. AstroDatabank is also looking for a person to work part-time doing quantitative astrology
research and helping others to do high quality statistical research. It is possible that the same
person can qualify for both the ISAR Research grant and the opportunity to work as a researcher
with AstroDatabank. This is a wonderful opportunity for the person who has always dreamed of getting
paid to do astrology research.
Best wishes,
Karen & Hannah
