I am grieved to have to announced that to all ISBA Members, that our Membership Director Barbara May is resigning her post as of April 1st, 2004. Barbara is - of course – still an honorary member of ISBA.
Barbara has served us loyally since 1999 and has contributed an immense amount of work to the establishment of ISBA. Barbara has especially been a very inspiring colleague for me (Karen), since she kindly shares her wealth of experience, gained among other places from her work for organizations such as AFAN.
Also our members have often expressed how much they valued and respected the personality of Barbara – always open, courteous and kind. No task has been too small or too large for Barbara, who furthermore has worked on a voluntary basis. As a true idealist and completely dedicated to astrology – as all of us are.Barbara is also an organizational person, and as such she won’t leave ISBA completely. To our great joy she will continue to offer inspiration and ideas for the further development of ISBA.
Naturally, I have sent Barbara a present from all of us in ISBA as a token of our regard for her efforts. I have presumed to select a typical Danish item, as it is often nice to receive something symbolic of other countries.
I (Karen) will take over Barbara’s work for the duration of the summer, so that we are quite sure, that transit Pluto has left its aspects to some of ISBA’s vital natal planets. We look forward to welcoming a new, attentive in the autumn.2) Membership Corner
MEMBERS CORNERWe welcomed two new members to ISBA this month, both from the USA: associate member Therese L. Cummings and supporting member Nancy McKinney. Welcome to ISBA! Please join us in greeting these two members! This will be my last column as your membership person. After 4 and a half years, it seems right that someone else step in. Some of you know since 2002 I've moved from England to Los Angeles to Sun City. All of these moves have been because of health concerns. Yes, I had the transits and progressions to indicate some serious problems and a sudden move! It has been my pleasure since Karen and I met to support ISBA, and I offered to set up membership for her, never dreaming I'd become the point person for membership. I never thought I'd love this job as much as I do. Volunteering can be onerous sometimes, but this has mostly been fun. I've met all the new members and gotten to know many of you better. Just so you know, I'm not leaving ISBA. Just membership. Let's continue to stay in touch, okay? I'm hoping to write now I don't have any more service duties to our astrology community. Thank you all for being so wonderful to work with!Love &
In Oneness,
barbara3) Speakers – ISBA Congress, Amsterdam May 6–7, 2005.

5) Articles – Paul Yogi Nipperess

Thank you, Paul!6) International Day of Astrology
As most of you know, March 20 is the International Day of Astrology. On this day, Astrology is celebrated in many countries. Personally,m I have chose to invite clients and fellow astrologers to dinner.
We would be very pleased to hear about other celebrations of this day for the next newsletter.
Please send this information to info@businessastrologers.com7) Skeptics
In my experience, astrologers have diverging attitudes to the use of dealing with sceptics – no matter whether we are talking about open and honest skeptics, or the conspiring and hateful ones.
To the astrologers who simply shrug their shoulders when these fellow citizens are mentioned – don’t waste you time reading further…..
The reason we find it worthwhile to mention the skeptics in this newsletters is that an apparent increase in the persecution of astrologers and other alternative thinkers is taking place making extensive use of particularly the American media machine, and reaching out worldwide. Their statements and allegations are more easily accepted by the public, than the defense returned by the astrologers, they make use of less than honourable methods, they are not out seeking for the truth – and their statements DO affect the way astrologers are viewed.
In Denmark we have had quite grotesque incidents where skeptics have engaged in physical brawling with so-called alternatives on trade fairs. Yet others must see their work misconstrued, manipulated or actually lied about to a degree that they cannot recognize their analyses or quotes.
The last type of persecution has happened several times to me (Karen) in connection with Danish skeptics who have infiltrated our organization several years ago, who harass our clients etc. These skeptics often make use of James Randi (USA), when they want their hounding publicized to a greater audience. James Randi prints anything, regardless of its lack of truthfulness, as long as it constitutes an attack on an astrologer.
I have seen and experienced this many times, which is why I in February forced my way into the forum of James Randi to tell my story. Randi tried to ban me for a week but was finally compelled to allow me access.
We have even seen this strange man on Danish television where he happily accused us all of being criminals.
Randi has informed me that he will possibly come to Denmark in the late summer of 2004, and I have grabbed the opportunity of asking him to document his statements. Ín return, I have offerede to document that Randi’s circus is anything but objective, and is not to be relied on. Of course, we want to give him material for his return to the USA.
Randi has however declined this offer – but gave no reason.
If you are interested in reading about the methods of this type of skeptics, you will find more information on these web sites:

Best wishes,
Karen & Hannah
