1) Members Corner
In October we have been happy to welcome two new members to our society:
« Jan-Erik Dahl, Norway. Associated member
« Jan Abshagen, Germany. Supporting member
We hope that both of you will feel comfortable in our astrological family, and ask you not to
hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding the organization, astrology, social
activities or other. info@businessastrologers.com is always happy to communicate with our members!
2) New dates for the Amsterdam Congress 2005
For members who have already decided to participate in the ISBA International Congress in Amsterdam
in May 2005 PLEASE NOTE that due to public holidays in the netherlands we have been forced to
move our event 3 weeks. The new dates are May 26. – 28.
We look very much forward to seeing you all there.
The agenda has been corrected accordingly and can be viewed on: www.businessastrologers.com
3) Workshop continued – Vladimir Gorbatceivich, Russia
Vladimir Gorbatceivich from Russia has contributed a few steps more for the participants in his
workshop starting January 2005. Anyone interested in participating online, can register at the
following address: info@businessastrologers.com
Step 6 can be found at the end
4) Announcement of lectures etc. on the ISBA – web
We would like to encourage you, dear ISBA member, to use the ISBA web more than is currently the
case. We have a number of pages, where professional members completely free of charge can advertise
their lectures, workshops, congresses or anything else the member would wish to communicate about
his/her business to the public. The pages are titled: Professional ISBA speakers. Please forward
you material to: info@businessastrologers.com, and please feel free to include illustrations.
5) Education on the ISBA web
Our web designer (That’s me, Hannah – Hi everyone!) is currently striving to complete
the design of ISBAs new educational pages.
So far, we have materiale from Tim Bost, USA and Vladimir Gorbatceivich, Russia.
If any other member would like to promote his/her educational material, please go ahead and mail
us what you have. It doesn’t matter if the training/education is targeted at novices or
more advanced students – the only requirement is that its essence is business astrology
or financial astrology.
6) New webmaster
In connection with the new work on our website we have regretfully received a resignation from
our webmaster through the last 4 years, Michael Lund Hansen. Michael has met the love of his life,
and has furthermore accepted a challenging management position, which is why he no longer has
the time to work for ISBA.
We wish Michael the best of luck, and we thank him for his help during the years with ISBA.
Our new web master starts in November, and will be introduced in the December News.
7) Weekly letter – Tim Bost, USA
The weekly Tim Bost newsletter is exceedingly popular. For any member who for some reason has
not received it in their mailbox, you can from now on also find it on the ISBA site in the Member’s
area.
8) ISBA Lilly
We have already received several nominations for the annual ISBA Lilly, which is awarded in
December. You still have time to send your nominations for this honorable award, please include
a few lines describing the virtues of your candidate.
To our new members: The ISBA Lilly is awarded once annually to a member who either internally
in ISBA has contributed extraordinary work for our members, or who externally has helped promote
business astrology and financial astrology in a dignified and enlightening manner.
Best wishes, Karen & Hannah
Step 6 - SOME ADDITIONAL FACTORS IN AC
By Vladimir Gorbatceivich
CHAINS OF RULERS
Let a planet P be a ruler of a planet Q (i.e. P is a ruler of a Zodiacal Sign where the planet
Q is placed). We denote this rulership by P à Q. The planet Q may be a ruler of some other
planet R, in this case a chain P -> Q -> R and so on. Such chains are called planetary chains
by rulership (also we may use exaltations instead of domiciles, but that is another story…).
Angular aspects may be considered as energetic connections between planets. But connections by
rulerships give us another sort of connection – more subtle than aspects, they act on the
astral level of being.
These chains may be used for investigations of a group’s motivations. The planet P in the
chain P -> Q may be considered as a functional motivation for Q. So for ANY planet there is
a motivator (Z.Freud’s analysis may be considered as an easy variant of such astrological
approach!). But not any given planet R motivates any other planet – because there may be
no planets in the domiciles of this planet R.
It is extremely interesting to find a “final dispositor” – a planet which directly
or by some chain of dispositions (rulerships) rules ALL other planets in a chart. This final dispositor
gives us a main motivation for the entire chart. In some charts there is no such final dispositor.
Also it is very interesting to find cyclic chains (see one simple example below).
Examples (for our “artificial” group). In our AC we have, in particular, such interesting
subchains:
1. Mercury in Aquarius rules Saturn in Gemini and vice versa. So Mercury and Saturn are in a mutual
reception (this is an easiest example of a cyclic chain). This planetary situation may be considered
astrologically as some weak form of angular conjunction of two planets.
2. Jupiter (Cancer) à Venus (Pisces) à Mars (Taurus). There is no planet (in our
AC) ruled by Mars.
So we find a motivation of a group’s actions (Mars) – the actions are connected with
functions of Venus (partnership, money etc.). Moreover, a motivation of Venus is connected with
Jupiter and his functions (expansion, justice etc).
STARS in Astrology - they are connected with extraordinary factors in our life; they show to us
influences of extra-Solar factors.
For AC I propose to find only conjunctions or oppositions of planets in AC with bright stars (and
I do not use any other aspects).
An orbis here has to be rather small – something about 1 deg (moreover, a star and a planet
needs to be in one common degree of Zodiac).
Below I outline some easy approaches to interpretations of stars and their influences:
Red stars – difficult, stressful influence (not necessary BAD one’s).
Yellow, blue, green stars – some special kinds of “positive” influences (not
necessary good ones).
I didn’t find any interesting star in conjunctions with planets and angles for our group’s
chart AC.
HARMONICS
HARMONICS – they are well known as harmonic charts (or VARGAS in Indian Astrology). They
give us some additional information about AC in some special areas:
H4 – effectiveness of a group.
H5 – creativity of a group.
H7 – extremely nonstandard creativity, unusual inventions.
H11 – difficult, “experimental” situations for groups.
An interpretation of a harmonic chart Hn is closely connected with some numerological properties
of a number n. By the way, as a mathematician, I like Numerology very much (but I use Numerology
as a science and don’t use any “popular” variants of it).
For any harmonic chart you may use all ordinary astrological methods. But AC is an “abstract”
chart so it will be better to use only “strong” astrological methods – major
aspects with small orbs, stelliums in houses etc. Only some harmonic charts (for some special
numbers n) may be effectively used for a given group (these harmonic are in some resonance with
this group).
For calculations of harmonic charts you can use some appropriate astrological program for computer.
Example – H5 for our “artificial” group.
There is a very interesting situation - five “minor” planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury,
Venus, Mars) in this AC are positioned in very close degrees (but some of them – in different
signs):
Sun =11/28 Capricorn
Moon 10/10 Leo
Mercury =0/00 Virgo
Venus 11/16 Pisces
Mars 12/09 Virgo
So there are some configurations in H5 – for example, Mars is in a conjunction with Mercury
and they both are in an opposition to Venus (by the way, Saturn is rather close to Venus too).
Therefore we may suppose that H5 and the number 5 are objects of special importance for our group!
This is a kind of rational Numerology (it is not “popular” numerological superstition).
Some information about harmonics (for natal astrology) you can find in the following books:
J.Addey: Harmonics in Astrology
D.Hamblin: Harmonic Charts
But, from my point of view, not all statements about interpretation of harmonic charts in these
books are quite correct.
MIDPOINTS
MIDPOINTS P|Q between two planets P,Q or points – they give us a lot of additional information
on more subtle, then an information from angular aspects, level of AC. Especially midpoint is
interesting if such midpoint is in THE SAME degree of Zodiac, as some third planet in AC. But
we may get almost the same information – on some other level - without using any midpoints.
So midpoints are not a necessary part of Astrology, but very interesting and sometimes very useful
part of Astrology.
Some examples.
1. Sun|Moon – it is the most important midpoint. In AC it is connected with a general process
of “life” of a group as a whole.
2. Saturn|Mercury – a point of logic or a point of concentration of information etc.
3. Mercury|Venus – a point of belle-lettres etc.
For our group we have, in particular, such combinations (planetary pictures) of midpoints and
planets in AC (with a very
Mercury | Mars (26/12 Pisces) = Venus (26/15 Pisces)
Venus |Saturn (2/26 Taurus) = Mars (2/25 Taurus)
Venus | Jupiter (15/56 Taurus) = IC (15/10 Taurus)
For calculation you may use any appropriate astrological program for computer. But you can calculate
midpoints by hand too (it is very useful for the beginning
Some general ideas about working with midpoints see in books about Uranian Astrology – but
to retranslate these standard methods for group’s AC.
R. Ebertin “The combinations of Stellar influences”
we find such a phrase (translated by me into English from Russian translation of this book)
Venus|Saturn = Mars:
“Aptitude to act under dictate of emotional restrains”
(by the way, I suppose, that term “emotional” for Venus is not adequate).
This phrase may be considered as an appropriate interpretation for a group! Other phrases from
this book about this combination of three planets are not appropriate for a group and have to
be reformulated.
Home task
1. Find a full chain of planetary rulerships in our example.
2. Find some chains for AC in your examples. Try to compare an idea of motivations with real information
about these groups.
3. Can you find any star in conjunction or in oppositions with planets in AC for your groups?
What do you think about meanings of these stars for your groups? Can you find some concrete correlations
between such meanings and concrete peculiarities of your groups?
4. Try to find some other harmonics Hn of special interest for our group.
Hint – such numbers as 3,7,9 are not interesting here (check it!), so try 11, 13, 15 …
5. Which harmonics are distinguished in your examples?
6. Try to find (or to invent?) some adequate phrases for planetary pictures Mercury|Mars = Venus,
Venus|Jupiter = IC in our AC (you may suppose that our “artificial” group is some
business group).
7. Find some planetary pictures in AC for your examples and give for them some interpretations.
Compare these interpretations with real characteristics of your groups.
